The world of Chimera is filled with magic, and nearly all creatures are capable of tapping into the potent source of power.
All creatures with an Int and Wis score of at least 3, and a Cha score of at least 10, gain spells as per a level 1 sorcerer (this effectively doubles the number of spells an actual level 1 sorcerer has). These spells are cast with an effective sorcerer (and caster) level equal to the character’s total HD, and may be changed for other spells at 4th HD and every even numbered HD thereafter, but the character does not gain any higher level spell slots. These spells (and only these “bonus sorcerer spells”) are cast as if the creature has Eschew Materials as a bonus feat, and the creature is allowed to use Somatic components for these spells as long as it has limbs or similar and a Dex score of greater than 0, and is allowed to use verbal components as long as they are capable of making some vocalizations. Again, these bonuses apply only to these bonus spells.
Additionally, Spellcraft is not considered to be Trained Only.
This requires several other assorted changes:Any Creature
- Any creature that has spell-like abilities stemming from their race that emulate spells may use any of their 0-level spell-like abilities at will.
- Minor Magic: May be used as is, OR may be used to select a level 0 spell that is cast at-will, or a level 1 spell that comes with an additional 3 level 1 spell slots (which may be used for any of your bonus sorcerer spells). If used in its modified form, spells are Charisma based, rather than Intelligence based, and count in all ways as sorcerer bonus spells.
- Major Magic: May be used as is, OR may be used to select a level 1 spell that comes with 2 additional level 1 spell slots, or may be used to select a level 2 spell from the Sorc/Wiz list that comes with one level 2 spell slot (bonuses for charisma as usual). If used in its modified form, spells are Charisma based, rather than Intelligence based, and count in all ways as sorcerer bonus spells.
- NOTE: If you select Minor Magic in its unmodified form, it only allows you to select Major Magic in its unmodified form, and vice versa. You are free, however, to select both the modified and unmodified forms as if they are different Rogue Talents.
